The U.S. federal minimum wage under the Fair Labor Standards Act is a floor; states, counties and cities may set higher rates, and several states index their rate to inflation each January. Japan has no single national rate: each prefecture's minimum wage council sets a rate every year based on guidance from the national council, and the new rates take effect from October. Minimum wages apply to part-time and hourly workers as well as full-time employees.

Each occupation page shows the job's hourly pay as a multiple of the minimum wage. Highest-paying jobs → · 日本語:最低賃金の一覧 →
