歯科衛生士養成機関を卒業して歯科衛生士の国家試験に合格し、免許を取得する必要がある。養成機関の修業年数は3年課程以上である。カリキュラムは、基礎的教養科目と、解剖学、口腔衛生学などの基礎的専門科目、臨床実習を含む専門科目からなる。
