医療機器開発に必要な専門的知識は、基本的には入社後に身につけていくが、図面を読む、書くなどの基本的な知識があると望ましい。開発の過程で問題が発生することも多いため、粘り強くチャレンジし続ける姿勢が必要である。また、企業内の様々な関係部署と調整する必要があるため、コミュニケーション能力も重要である。企業内あるいは顧客に対し医療機器についての説明をする機会も多いので、プレゼンテーション能力も必要となる。海外の顧客とやりとりをする機会もあるので、英語力もあると望ましい。
