入職にあたって、特に学歴や資格は必要とされない。無線局を設置しているタクシー会社の配車センターでは、無線設備を操作する一定の資格をもった無線従事者を配置するように義務づけられているため、「無線従事者（陸上）」の資格（第3級陸上特殊無線技士以上）があると有利である。高校で電気、電気通信関係の学科を学習するか、同等以上の知識をもっていると有利である。事務関係の職員としてハローワークや求人広告等により採用しているが、同じ会社のタクシー運転者や事務員からの配置転換や中途採用するケースもある。
　資格や業務知識がない場合、入社後に研修を行い、養成課程の講習会に参加、無線従事者の資格を取得させる場合がある。電話応対、端末操作、地理知識の習得などは、就職後に会社で職場研修として実際の仕事を通して、経験者が訓練する方法などがとられている。
　電話での応対には丁寧で明瞭な言葉遣いが必要となる。また、配車の指示は、正確ですばやい対応が求められる。仕事の性質上、地理にも詳しい必要がある。緊急時には迅速、的確な対応が求められる。
