入職にあたって、特に学歴や資格は必要とされない。レセコンを使用するので、パソコンの操作に慣れていると就職に有利である。
入職後は、サービス別基礎研修、マナー研修、法人理念研修などの入社時研修が行われる。（*1）レセコンに習熟すれば、半年程度で業務ができるようになる。
介護報酬請求事務に関する民間の資格がいくつかあるが、取得は義務づけられていない。
パートや契約社員から正社員になったり、規模が大きい施設では現場から本社勤務になるなどキャリアアップする例もある。
基本的には事務職なので、社会人としてのマナーや社会常識を含めた事務処理能力と来客や電話の応対などのコミュニケーション能力、そしてなによりもレセコンを使いこなせるだけのパソコンの知識、スキルが求められるが、事業所によっては介護補助まで業務に入っているところもある。
